El Paso Choral Society Chorale and Orchestra Present Mozart Requiem February 7, 2017
The El Paso Choral Society Chorale and Orchestra will present the Mozart Requiem with professional guest soloists on Saturday, April 8 at 7:30PM at the Abraham Chavez Theatre. The performance will also feature The Barber of Seville Overture, John Williams Tango (with dancers), and the Intermezzo and Easter Hymn from Mascagni’s Opera Cavalleria Rusticana.
Prentice Loftin, EPCS General Director, will conduct, with Dr. Stephanie Meyers as concertmaster and violin soloist. The guest soloists will be Heather Dials, soprano; Melissa Parks, alto; Gregory Schmidt, tenor; and Levi Hernandez, bass.
The 100+ voice El Paso Choral Society Chorale and Orchestra has been performing the major choral/orchestral works in El Paso for over 70 Years. Its repertoire includes the Requiems by Mozart, Verdi and Brahms, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnes, Mass in C and Ninth Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s Creation, Poulenc Gloria, Alexander Nevsky, Bernstein’s, Chichester Psalms and Mass. In 1995, the El Paso Choral Society Chamber Choir was formed to be the professional core of all performances by the Chorale, Symphony and Opera of El Paso. The Chamber Choir has performed 28 operatic productions with El Paso Opera.
